Super long day… exhausted… just plopped my tired self in bed.  It was a good day,….. after work I was able to put 5 hours in on stripping the kitchen cabinets and they are ready for stain….. this is the perfect time to do this… the weather is beautiful.. and having the cabinets outside, I got to feel the cool breeze and look up at the stars every now and then. I  plugged my ipod in and had a flashback concert.as I was workin… each time I chose an artist I went back a little farther in time… it went something like this….Pink, John Meyer, Diana Krall, Rascal Flats, Los Lonely boys, Nora Jones, U2, Madonna, Prince(purple rain), The cars, The Go Go’s, and Peter Frampton.  It’s amazing how a song can take me back to a specific moment.  I can feel how I felt, see what I was wearing (the eighties were not a good fashion era)  and who I shared that moment with…. aaah good times!… I want to be better at making memories with those in my world right now… some days I get so focused on the next project, piece of art or show that I forget to enjoy the journey and those around me…. Self.. don’t forget to enjoy the Journey!  Tired Smile= Shawn

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
