My friend sent me a quote today that said ” This life is not about finding yourself, Life is about creating yourself.” I liked that quote and probably will use it in a piece of art in the near future…. but…I really do believe this life is one big Journey! one that we create… I have created some great big messes and some incredibly fabulous moments, all of which have taught me something. At some points in my life I wished I had made some different choices, but honestly, I have no regrets.. because the lessons I learned from those choices forever changed me. I am grateful for the bad times as well as the good times because each experience is creating who I am. I pray that I can be present in each day to really see the moments that add to my life, enjoy the greatness of a sunrise, the smile of a friend, or the touch of a loved one… I feel like each day.. I’m tearing pages from a magazine and storing all the beautiful ideas in a folder to open later to help me create a piece of art, except its to create my beautiful life! Big Smile = Shawn

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
