So this frame that I altered inspired me to do a new series… and a little voice from a friend 🙂  IMG_20130605_115235_264 so I started with this frame that has been sitting in my studio for a long time, I was going to throw it away…

IMG_20130605_115243_756IMG_20130605_115401_576 - Copy IMG_20130605_115344_667 - Copygrabbed a scrap piece of paper laying around and put it in the frame.

IMG_20130605_115641_286 - Copygrabbed a copy of one of my pieces and took it apart

IMG_20130605_115727_298 IMG_20130605_120143_841 using medium gel I took all the scraps and covered the edges and then placed the heart and wings.

IMG_20130605_121629_750 - Copy It has some rough edges so I cut strips from some paper I had and again used medium to adhere the strips;

IMG_20130605_122114_339 IMG_20130605_123821_000 It covered some of the letters in heart and live so I painted the letters and outlined.

I was telling my friend about what I had made … and the little message I left myself…. she loved it and voila a new series was born… I’ll be getting started asap… gotta capture the inspiration!  Stay tuned…  Big Smile=Shawn

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
