As I dive into the New Year…. I have purposefully taken time to just relax. To do some of the other things that I love to do and to clear out the cobwebs of a crazy year and simplify some things.

I was feeling overwhelmed, burnt out and discouraged. Didn’t feel creative or inspired to paint. Didn’t want to plan for 2014. I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go or how I wanted to change things. I didn’t want to think about my business plan, I just felt so unsure of everything. So I cleaned… the drawers, the shelves of my closet, shoes, clothes but what I was really doing was cleaning my mind. The hours that it took me to clear the clutter from my closets and drawers was the time I needed to clear the clutter from my head. Six black garbage bags later I was feeling lighter, clearer and ready to tackle the things I need to do to watch my dreams and this soulful business of mine flourish.

Sometimes we need to do nothing and relax and sometimes we need to DO something. Something different, something small, something to change things up. Something that can give us the space to clear the clutter from our heads. It is beautiful how it can change your perspective.

Once my mind was clearer, I followed that up with talking to my inner circle peeps to just talk through the last months and business and got good confirmations about some changes that I need to make.  I was also reminded of how amazing things really are.

At the start of this New Year do you need to take some garbage out, make some changes, do something to give you the space in your head to get clear about your plans for 2014? To be reminded of how truly blessed you are?

BE COURAGEOUS, be intentional to get clear…. It feels good!

You are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
