Yesterday I had to walk to work (I’m a floral designer by day) with the shuffle of 2 cars and 3 people with jobs, It ended up that I didn’t have a car to get to work… so I don’t live far from work… so I thought no problem… I’ll just walk. Well.. there was a heat advisory yesterday so as I started on my jaunt… within 5 minutes I was a hot, sweaty, grumpy mess. Then I started having an argument/dialogue in my head. It went something like; Ok stop whining, this is not a big deal, oh my gosh it’s frigin hot!… I feel like I’m getting no where fast… I can do this…. oh my gosh it’s hot…. find something pleasant about the walk… I know there is a lesson in this… a blog post… a piece of art…. oh my gosh it’s hot! This went on for a while… and then there it was….. the messages on the side walk…

There must have been a race a some point…. but I was thrilled to see these little messages every few feet, and I looked forward to the next one and the next. Before I knew it…. I had arrived at my destination.

Life is so much like my walk….. we start out with a plan and suddenly realize this is bigger than I thought, or maybe there is a heat advisory, or many other obstacles on our journey. However if we get encouragement along the way, and we stop looking at the overwhelming large picture and focus on the cool messages along the way, before we know it, we have accomplished what we set out to do.

I hope that my art and my words are the encouragement you need on your journey. That I’m in some small way that little push of happy messages on your walk.
