This is 5 minute art Monday watch how I made this here….http://youtu.be/rto-31ZEWV0

A couple of days ago I saw the movie,  The Fault In Our Stars. I highly recommend seeing it. Bring a tissue, and give yourself time to fully absorb the many messages from this film. Anyway, I so identified with many quotes in the movies, but the one that really has me thinking, pondering and has inspired this piece is, (and I’m sure I’m not saying correctly)…. “I thought I would be something great, that I would leave a mark..” “That I would change peoples lives”  and then after that statement was said the other character in the story (I’m trying to be vague as to not give things away) Went on to tell a beautiful story of how this person has changed all of the lives around this person.

I wept, even after the movie thinking about this….. You see I have said that very thing…. many times…., I get so caught up some days making my mark on the world, thinking that I need to do more, encourage more, love more…. Thinking that I’m not doing enough to make a difference in peoples life with my art. Thinking that I thought I could change the world……. When I need to realize that I am making a difference in the lives around me. In the lives of my family and friends and even in the small blogosphere space.

This was a reminder to me and therefore a reminder for you, that We ARE making a difference, right where we are. That we can change the lives of those who hold our hand, who share their vulnerability, who sit on the couch next to us. That the kindness and grace that we show to our neighbor or co worker can make them know that someone sees them.

By the worlds standards we might not be mighty warriors, super stars or world changers, but we are champions to the small little world around us!

You and I are making a difference everyday by living in love…. and sharing that light and love with others.

Thank you for sharing this amazing journey with me. You are loved!

Shawn

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
