I read a quote a couple of days ago that has touched me. I can’t get it out of my head…. Leonard Cohen said: Everything has cracks, that’s how the light gets in.

I’ve heard it before, don’t you love it when things like that happen, words that you have heard or read before suddenly impact you right at the place that you need. Anyway, I needed a reminder that life is just that…. fuuulll of cracks, life is not perfect, my life is not perfect, my business is not perfect, my marriage is not perfect, my kids are not perfect, my body is not perfect. It’s alll perfectly IMPERFECT,  and cracked and I needed a little hug around my heart the day I read that quote. It was just what I needed in the broken cracked places of my life. To often I fail to see the beauty in the imperfections. I fail to breathe, and give myself a break. I DO have to work at being ok with all the cracks…. I am gracious when it come to others cracks, but when it come to mine…. No Grace Here! So I’ve worked hard the last few days, well, I actually work at it all the time, however I needed an extra boost the last few days at just being ok…. cracks and all.  I’m focusing on the light… oh the glorious, beautiful light.

I want to give you a little hug around your heart today and remind you that You are perfectly imperfect…that there is lots of imperfection in all areas of our lives…. but if you look real close …. you can see it…. the light…. the amazing glorious light! Breathe! You are fabulous!

You are loved!

Shawn

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
