Today I scheduled myself in the studio all day…. It’s always a bit of a challenge to just create…. between emails, orders, marketing, brainstorming new ideas, my floral designer job, on and on the list goes… with a load of laundry in between, making lunch for the hubby, dishes, my …. yup that’s how is goes…. but I finally had several hours focused on painting…. As I sat down, I always kind of have ideas of what I want to create…. ideas and inspirations brewing … but I just stared at the mdf board…. nothing….. this happens often… and I have to go into my “zone” I put on some music that inspires me….. I close my eyes and ask myself what is in my soul…. what do I want to say, feel, express…. I meditate on this for a while, I will also ask myself what am I struggling with… and then I Listen….. listen to my heart….. to my soul….. and then I just have to start.. with a single piece of paper, or a brush stroke…. and then like and avalanche it comes….. sometimes so fast I can hardly get each layer finished… It happens the same pretty much every time….
It is so important to get quiet when I paint. To listen to my soul…..
It’s also important to get quiet in life…. to rest…. to grow…. Getting quiet and listening to your soul does so much good…! It’s in those times when we allow ourselves to dream. It’s in those times when we can get honest about our lives and what we want.
We are all soo, soo busy, as if it’s a badge of honor…. some seasons of life demand it…. However it is crucial in our personal growth to slow down and listen to our souls…. to the calling, the desires. To write it down and plan your steps, your future, your dreams. To get quiet and rest so that you have the energy to go make things happen.
Take some time this week to listen to your soul, close your eyes, and ask yourself the questions that need to be asked…. You know what they are…. and just LISTEN…
