I just love this fun piece that I created for the front door. I’m not a spooky kinda person, so this is as spooky as I get for Halloween.
This is the step by step.
Putting papers down onto a 12 x12 mdf board with Matte Medium
Creating the background with Andy Skinner Stencil and Media Mister Orange
Putting a glaze on the background with burnt umber and glazing medium.
I cut a stencil of a pumpkin and then used crackle paste to get a raised crackled outline.
I used antiquing cream to give the pumkin some color and to get into the crackle of the crackle paste. Then sealed the antiquing cream with matte varnish.
I found a skeleton pattern on line printed it out and then cut it out and put down with matte medium
I skectched out Happy Halloween and painted with carbon black fluid acrylic
created some drip and a tree using the black
I used umber antiquing cream to go over the entire piece and then sealed with varnish again. You need to seal the antiquing cream otherwise it doesn’t set and will remain active.
I added additional shading and depth with charcoal pencil and edging the piece with an old cc and carbon black paint
I then added a little glitz with some glitter. this write on twinkles from deco art is perfect becasue it has a fine tip so you have alot of control.
I added some hooks to the top and tide a ribbon on the hooks and then added some fall leaves. Voila! Toooo cute!
Have fun creating…. Be inspired and know that you are loved!
