Playing… playing is how you grow artistically and that is exactly what I have been doing lately. Doing things that are a little different from my usual and yet still keeping to what I love. Paper! Umber washes and yummy colors.

Enjoy the video.

After I shut off the camera, I added a few more dots and charcoal.

the-last-thought

I am not afraid of the storm,

For I am learning to sail by ship.

Louisa May Alcott

Life can feel like a storm so often, and you might feel like you can’t handle another thing, but you will. Just remember in the midst of the storm that it will pass. After you rest and heal, you must choose to grow, to learn and become wiser BECAUSE OF THE STORM.  And eventually be thankful for the storm.

Surround yourself with those that get it…. get where you are and will love you in the place that your at. Those that have weathered the storms themselves. Those that will encourage you, allow you to heal, but not let you stay in the storm.

My friend, you can do this, you can do the hard stuff.

We are better together.

You are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
