You guys know I am die hard fan of Liquitex Matte Medium but, oh my…. Deco Arts Matte medium is quickly becoming my go to. I love it!

I love this cutie for so many reasons… but the main reason is because I feel like so many around me need hope…

Hope: Websters definition:

to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence. to believe. events will turn out for the best.

Hope that healing will happen, hope that forgiveness will happen, hope that you are in the place that you should be. Hope that out of tragedy love will grow. HOPE that it will get better.

I put my book pages down with Matte Medium

Dried the matte medium and then sketched a butter fly

Mixing Americana (mint julep) and fluid acrylic titanium white I painted around the butterfly.

deco-days-10-28-6

painted the body with fluid acrylic carbon black

deco-days-10-18-5

with a variety of fluid acrylic colors I painted a pattern on the butterfly.

Painted Hope with titanium white.

I painted some half circles with American Sea Breeze and titanium white, then, Using Raw Umber antiquing cream I went over the the entire piece.

When using the antiquing cream you need to seal it. I used the ultra matte varnish.

I put the finishing touches on it with charcoal pencil, micro pen and a little bit of titanium white, and then sealed it with Ultra matte varnish.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Ok normally I love your work, but truth be told I was scrolling down the page and thinking “ugh, I don’t like this one”…..however…..once down to the final product….”ooo, that’s pretty!” was my thought. So…I’m taking this as a lesson to keep going….caterpillars do become beautiful butterflies all we need it time and patience!
Thanks for all the loveliness you share!
