I had some fun this week creating this journal page that I will end up framing because I love it so much. Prints and prints on wood are available too!
I started with an 80lb journal page that I put Deco Art Media Gesso on.
Then I added Americaan Acrylic paint in Sea Breeze. I used a catalist tool.
I added an umber wash using burnt umber.
Using Media Matte Medium I cut strips of paper and made hearts and put them down. Making sure to have a nice heavy coat of matte medium to keep the edges down.
Added some shading with a charcoal pencil
Put down a dictionary page that I aged with walnut ink and then put down the words as well with Media Matte Medium. I also stamped with letter stamps the words faith, hope, love.
Using black and white Media Gesso and the pixelated stencil and another random dots stencil, I added some texture to the sides. I also used a white and black paint pen to go around the hearts and add additional designs to the piece. I also added just a little bit more charcoal shading.
I have a crazy obsession with hearts right now! I just love her! too cute!

OMG, what is it with hearts these days! I have the same obsession…I was thinking the same thing just yesterday! Staring at a background I did in my art journal, I was thinking, “I don’t want to do hearts again”…..but I did! Funny thing is when I was younger I didn’t like hearts so much, now I can’t get enough! Making up for lost time maybe! LOL
I love the strips of paper you use to make the hearts! And I always love the way you lay your sentiments on a strip of paper…highlighting it!
Hugs!
Carol,
