Needed to tell myself to keep going this week. That’s what inspired this piece.

Enjoy the video.

I used an Andy Skinner stencil.I also used two Tim Holtz stencils. Book pages and some random ephemera, book pages and scraps of paper. Americana paints in avacado, deep burgundy, burgundy wine. and Liquitex titanium. 8×8 mdf wood panel available in my shop.

the-last-thoughtSome days we have to give ourselves a pep talk… and I needed that this week. I needed to focus and tell myself to keep going…. to stay on track….that even though there were set backs this week… that the goal… had not changed.

Maybe you need to have a pep talk with yourself…. maybe it’s really tough right now and you need some encouragement. Maybe your just tired and need to plaster around you all the right words to keep you going. What ever it takes to keep you (us) on track…. do it!

I do it all the time. My studio is covered with words that encourage me day to day.

My friend…. rest if you need to but then find whatever it takes to keep you on the path, that keeps you moving forward. Just keep going my friend you can do it!

Be inspired, create and know that you are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
