We get to choose how we want to live our life and I truly believe that writing it down makes us more aware of what we want, what we need to change and how we live each day.

This is my practice at the beginning of the new year.

Enjoy the video.

the-last-thought

Beginning the new year with a plan isn’t about guilt, or bashing yourself. It’s just a choice to remind yourself how you want to live. As a year goes by we have accomplished things and realized that some things aren’t as important as we thought they would be. So we make a new list. I do this every year, and every year it makes me aware of what great things happened last year and what things I want for the new year. I have two or three lists that pertain to specific areas of my life.  I believe with all my heart that writing things down changes things, takes them from our head and heart and puts them out into the world. It makes our wishes and dream real and some how makes us accountable. It’s like when you buy a new car or a pair of shoes, you never see anyone wearing them until you own a pair or are driving that car. Same thing when we write things out. We are suddenly made aware of those things around us and then propels us to follow through.

My friend you are beautiful inside and out,  take the time to live on purpose. To not be like the many who are walking through life numb and lifeless. Choose today to make the most of where you are and what you have. Live with passion and purpose!

Be inspired, create and Always know that you are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
