Winter Media Challenge Graphics-21

Hello my friends!

Deco Art is having another opportunity to create and possibly win a prize pack valued at $120.00.

The Design team created some great projects to get things started….. here is mine.

I started this piece using an 8×8 mdf board and put down book pages with Media Matte Medium

Then using Colbalt Turquoise and titanium white fluid acrylic I painted a circle and then painted white around it. Sprayed water on it and picked up the water with a paper towel. That is what gives it that speckled effect. Then with raw umber antiquing cream I aged the background.

I then found a royalty free image of a deer and went to photo shop and created this design. I reversed it, for the image transfer. printed it out on regular printer paper using and ink jet.

I cut my design apart and the outer design I turned it over and used my image transfer medium (follow the directions) I let it dry for an hour.

Once dry using a spray bottle, I wet the paper and began rubbing the paper away

This step takes some time, so be patient.

I cut the dear out and used my matte medium to put it down.

Using blue green light fluid acrylic and Americana avocado and a fine brush and started painting the pine

Using Media fluid acrylics I painted the flowers

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Winter is definitely here in sunny Iowa! Snow & ice on the ground. We are at -3 degrees and the windchill is in the -20’s….suppose to reach a high of 0 today…woohoo…lol!
