I am committed to stretching my wings in 2016!  I have made plans to take courses and workshops that take me out of my comfort zone.

Life book is one of those things that will help me grow in 2016.

It will stretch me in my art and in my soul and I am super excited. I am hoping to share my completed projects each week along with some of the process.

This is week one….. watercolors….. ink tense pencils…… and a girl …. oh my…. scary, but I did it!

Tam Laporte was a great instructor this week and is also the founder of Life Book.

Our lesson of course was to create a front facing girl….eeeek! and an animal that will travel the journey with us this year…. I chose a bird….. for the symbol of freedom… I am working on freeing myself from some of the labels I have put on myself as well as freedom artistically.  We were to include our word for the year… and then I put a little love in my pocket too!

(sorry for the bad pics! not sure what happened)

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
