Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

You are an amazing wonderful woman and artist. You are a magician with a charcoal pencil. I love watching how your pictures come to life when you use the charcoal pencil. Yes, we all have had pressures and deadlines and it doesn’t seem to do any good to worry or fret, as you say, it is life and it will all turn out well. I will miss you being in Phoenix, good luck in your new adventure. And isn’t that what life is, but an adventure. Enjoy

I needed this so much. My father age 92 died on the 4th and we had the funeral on Saturday. With the months of taking care of him, Hospice took over and gave me a chance to breathe. I took the time to seek the Lord’s will not mine in this situation. Because I am a control freak at times and learning to let go and let God. I loved this work of art. Thanks for sharing while you are so busy.

Sarah, I’s so sorry for your loss….. saying prayers for peace and comfort. Letting go is sooo hard. I’m so glad this came when you needed it. Hugs and love!

I do love this piece. I enjoyed your process of how you did the shading of your birds using the stencil. Loved that. Life can certainly throw us for some curves, but then if there are no bumps in the road, then you are probably going the wrong way. Bumps, curves and road blocks will all pass. I am learning not to use the word “worry”, instead, I am using the word “think”. You can think about it, but don’t worry about it, there is nothing you can do anyway. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not here yet, and you only have today. Just remember to breathe. You could listen to these birds sitting in a tree and breathe. Remember to be good to yourself Shawn and you are not alone in this, not at all. 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece with us.
