If you live in the US I hope your Thanksgiving was great, there is always something to be grateful for.

As I was searching for inspiration for this piece, a book fell off the shelf and open to this quote… I love it when that happens. I also received in the mail this last week Finnabars texture powder… and whaaa la! This piece was born.

The soul should always stand ajar, ready to welcome the Ecstatic experience… Emily Dickinson.

What if we waited for the amazing things to happen, if we were present and wide eyed, waiting for something so fantastic that we are ecstatic about it.. Life can get so hectic and heavy that we no longer look for the moments that take our breath away. That make us smile from deep down, that make us laugh a gut laugh, that make us ponder the universe and all its magic. What if we expected beauty to show up everyday in our lives and we slowed down just a bit so that we could see it. Our souls needs it, our inner peace depends on it.

This is your Sunday Inspiration video.

shawn petite in her studio in front of an easel

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
