This piece has such rich deep colors and such intricate layers… I am loving the Daler and Rowney acrylic inks in combo with the high flow acrylic… it’s like magic when you spritz them with water. I just love it!

I also love reminding you that you are strong and to keep going.

Enjoy your Sunday Inspiration video

Supplies Used: 10×10 mdf board, collage paper, matte medium, Daler and Rowney acrylic inks, Golden High flow acrylic, Golden fluid acrylic, charcoal pencil, black pastel stick, Liquitex basics acrylic paint,

Stencils used: Lace and flower garden

I met this sweet soul for the first time this week, we shopped antiques, laughed, oohed and awed over old, grungy goodness. She got me! We ate and shared life stories and I came home excited to have a new friend!

I’m so glad I took the risk, that I didn’t stop in the fear. That I didn’t let the negative voices win. That the fear of not being liked or enough was over ruled. The message that I am strong, and I just need to take one step and then another and another, won!

Once you say no to fear…. a beautiful story starts to unfold.  We don’t get the whole story all at once… we just need to take the next step and then another.

My friend, YOU are strong, take the next step.

Be inspired, create and know that you are loved.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

What a beautiful piece! Love your color palate, the layering and definitely the message. In fact, your message is very timely for some young women I am trying to help. Thank you for sharing your vulnerability with us.
