Fully feeling the January blues.. I needed to find some joy… while I was running errands, I said a little prayer and then decided to take a drive to search out beauty, joy and gratitude… and I found it!…. right around the corner. I was driving down my favorite street and there was this barn in a field. There was a light dusting of snow. It made me smile and I love that spot in every season. I drove by that spot a couple of time to take in all the joy it gave me.

I thanked God for the moment and continued on to find more beauty….. When I got home, I knew I had to paint it…

Enjoy the video

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Shawn, you never cease to inspire me……to fill my soul with hope. This is an amazingly beautiful piece…….what ever it was that you saw in your mind’s eye, you captured!! I so “get” your vision…….your prayer was certainly answered…….you found the joy in the day!! I absolutely am filled with gratitude and peace and awe upon seeing trees with snow covering their branches, and the tall “dead” grasses covered in winter beauty. I know they are not “dead” by any stretch……they are just “waiting in the wings” for their time to come back. Thank you for sharing this beauty with us; and your heart and soul. May you be blessed with the Good Lord’s sweetest gifts today…..and every day!! Hugs to you…….

Thank you Carole! I love that you “get” it! I’m truly blessed some days take just a little more work to see it… but the beauty and joy is always there. Hugs and love!

The Winter Blues, I think it hits everyone and we all deal with it differently and some the same. I think art brings joy. Music! Important things to remember and find your happy place. The weather plays a role for sure in how we feel. We get a lot of rain here, so gray, so gloomy and my colour is with yarn right now. It works, make your own sunshine 🙂
Love this picture, love the barn. Your flowers remind me of cotton.

I love all of your work, but am especially drawn to this one…love the process, the painting, and the message. It is truly like getting a hug from a painting, if that makes sense. Wish I could come paint with you…..
