This original is available HERE

I had a dream about this piece and I will tell you all about it in the video, but I did my best to create a watercolor effect with acrylics and the watercolor collage pak worked perfectly to complete this floral.

I always dream about my art, but this one was different and specific so I knew I had to paint it. It’s titled hope, but the message was clear that “we should not be defined by the harshness of the world but be refined by it” It took me several days to paint, because I would get emotional when I pondered what the message meant, and then as I began to pull this piece together, everything was very clear.

I hope you enjoy the video!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Shawn, your words touched my heart in ways I can’t explain. Life is so hard and it’s even harder to watch those you love dearly be changed by it, and not in a good way. To watch someone that had such a wonderful heart become harsh and cruel. Thank you for sharing. I will work on making my art reflect that in some way. Bless you!!! ❤️

You are just amazing! I wish I could “see” what you see when you create your art. I love how you bring it all together with color and collage. You are my inspiration each and every week with crash the stash and sunday inspiration. Thank you.

A wonderful, inspiring and encouraging message; so timely in our country and our world that’s as you say, “in chaos”. Just what I needed to hear. The lovely art piece is a great visual of your powerful message. Thank you so much for your amazing generosity and love in sharing this. ❤️

Shawn, this is so beautiful! Love when our pieces just “flow”! As I listened to you share your dream, it so touched my heart. I believe this is why God has given different gifts and talents, by creating and encouraging others, we speak into their lives what God would want them to know. It also helps us when we share what Good had put in our hearts and minds through our dreams. I also feel as I heard your dream, that through the harsh times in life that God is right there with us, He said he would never leave us! I also heard the verse, Phillipians 4:19 that says “What ever things are lovely and pure, think on these things”. There’s more to the verse I’m sure you’ve heard it. As we think good thoughts, this is when we begin to love, show kindness and grace to the world. I just wanted to say, God is always with us, our lives get so busy, sometimes it’s in our dreams we hear God, that’s when we are quiet and can hear. I know this was pretty long, but needed to share. Thank you for you!! Xoxo. Cindi

Thank you Cindi for sharing…. I do believe that our dreams are from the divine and that your right about it being the time when we are quiet enough to hear… and I love that verse too! Hugs !
