Kindness is free

Today I used a photograph to inspire me and be the base of my drawings, although you can barely see it, it plays a huge role in my creation. Wanting this piece to be loose and free there is lots of motion and energy which really creates interest.

Today’s message is just a small reminder that even if we have very little to give, we can always give kindness. Today it feels like courtesy and kindness doesn’t happen very often and when we are all behind our computer screens we can be harsher that if we are face to face. Even when I’m running errands or at the grocery store, salespeople or the cashier barely look you in the eyes, or say hello. A little kindness can go a long way, it can brighten someones day and makes everyone (me included) feel that they are not invisible, that we are not alone. So today, look up, look around, give a smile and a how are you…. it could possibly change someone’s life… and it FREE!

Headshot photo of artist

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
