I love using acrylic ink and high flow to accentuate the texture in a page. The unexpected puddles settle in all the right places. It really shows off the texture of the paper and the modeling paste/gesso mixture I also love using acrylic inks and high flow because it’s just so easy and I can put my brain on autopilot and just relax and have fun. I continue using up some of the same scraps, bound and determined to “use it all up”! The background papers turned out so great I almost didn’t want to cover it up, but like I always say you have to be will to let go of the background to create the masterpiece. I hope you enjoy the video and happy creating!

Supplies used:

Homemade journal, papers from the stash, F&W acrylic inks (yellow oxide and magenta) Golden high flow (sepia and carbon black) Deco art media matte medium, gesso and modeling paste, fine line applicator, letter stamps and archival stamp pad

Stencils used: background words, old type text, flower gang 5

Have a great day, be inspired, create and know that you are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
