“Brave in grace”

This piece came together so fast… from the moment of the idea to the final touches, it took me about 1 hour. That includes gathering the elements and supplies. I painted with fever and passion because of what lies within this piece, the messages to my soul, the symbolism and making peace.

The inspiration coming from a hurtful email that I could not get out of my heart and my head and I had to.. had to ….paint it out. My hands shook as I painted faster and faster, with tears in my eyes.

That’s what I love about the creative process, it can open us up bare, it can tell the story that we can’t say ourselves, it can provide the answers that we can’t yet figure out. It’s healing for me and there are these unexplained messages that happen, that I believe are divine when I’m creating.

I share all about it in today’s video

Supplies used:

11×14 mdf board, scraps of paper, gesso, fluid acrylic, glazing medium, crackle paint, charcoal pencil, double sided tape, Thermo web foil

Stencils used: in the garden, vintage postage, let it fly

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

What an important message for all of us. Write down our strengths and keep them visible to remind us of our goodness. . Thank you for all that you present to us. Barbara

I often wonder what is wrong with some people that they can only focus with negative thoughts, is it jealousy, is it there own hurt, I will never understand why someone feels the need to hurt another My motto is and has always been if you cannot say something kind don’t say anything. I Like that you wrote out your statement of who you are and what you believe, you could also go back and look through the thousands of positive messages you have received I am sure those far outweigh any negative comments. I appreciate your sunday messages and that you are so willing to put your vulnerable self out there for other to learn to live in grace. So I celebrate you and your art.
