Discover

Every year as it comes to a close I begin to map out the new year. I write down details for my business and person life. I dream and set intentions and goals.

And I always choose a word to focus on, to help guide me in decision making. A single word to push me in new directions and to help me grow.

I began this process over 15 years ago after I read the book “Write it down make it happen“, I changed my life. I write all of my goals in detail. It a physical witness to all the things that I accomplish. I’m also careful not to feel any guilt for the things that don’t get done. I just transfer them to the next year and I like to think that the timing just wasn’t right for that specific goal.

Discover is my word for the year, An intention to step out of my comfort zone, to accept adventure and to do new things. As I have shared before I walk in fear most days and deal with anxiety. I have also learned to walk with the fear and control the anxiety. So discovery sounds like a great adventure and alot of scary things but, I’m soo willing to do the uncomfortable to gain experiences, wisdom, empathy and all the things you get from trying something new.

I hope that you will venture into new territory, or do the thing that you have been putting off. That you will write it down, everywhere, so that you can see it and be reminded. So that you can grow in incredible ways in the new year. Just remember out goals and intentions are NOT about guilt!

Here’s to a wonderful 2019! Enjoy the video

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
