Every layer of this piece was wonderful and it was hard to let go of the background, but that is part of the process and what leads to really interesting work. I love how bits and pieces of every layer peek through.

I found this quote when searching for something for another project and it stopped me, I pondered it for a while and had a whole conversation with myself. I hope I’m not the only one who does that! Anyway, I knew that I needed to paint it and share my journey of finding happy over dignified.  I spent a lot of years trying to be something I’m not, and it was a slow journey and is still in progress, but, the second I embraced me for my weirdness, my artsy fartsy side, my love for old smelly vintage books,… the list is long my friend, ….this home I call myself became a lot more comfortable.

You, my friend, are an amazing, wonderful, complicated, smart, funny bundle of YOU. Be happy with that! You are loved! Enjoy the video

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

This is such a pretty piece. I really like your new stencils and you’re right, I did say oh no your covering up the background. However, I realized that you had to do that or the flowers wouldn’t have shown up as well and neither would the quote. I think most of us are a bit quirky and weird, don’t you? I think it is a good thing to be. It is what makes us unique. Of course that is just my opinion and that doesn’t count for much. lol Thank you for another wonderful video.
