Torn paper background mixed media Sunday Inspiration 5-12-19

I had fun doing this real time in today’s project. The torn paper background is one of my favorites to do and it gives just the right grungy look I want. The tearing of the paper really gives a lot of variation in texture.

Then I just played with all my acrylics, High flow, matte, fluid, ink… ! You also got to see that everything doesn’t go as planned, but everything is fixable.

The quote says “You are stronger than you think you are” I wanted to remind you to not be so hard on yourself and to encourage yourself like you encourage others. It’s so easy for us to see the good in others, to see there strength and talents and yet when it comes to ourselves we struggle to find something good to celebrate. So today I ask you to say out loud and then write it down.

you are stronger

you are brave,

you are smarter

you are more beautiful

you are more creative

YOU fill in the blank where you need to encourage yourself, I promise if you say it enough, you will start to see it, and then you will start to believe it! It’s true!

My love, YOU are one of a kind and I share more encouraging words in the video

Enjoy!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
