What do you do when you envision how a piece will look and no matter how long you fuss with it, it’s just not getting there?
You embrace it! That’s what I finally did with this one. It turned out fine but not anything like the vision and ideas I had in my head.
I fought it and fought it and finally I just embraced it for what it was and where it was going and once I did that…. I could call it finished.
I wanted this to be whimsical but with a bit more vintage feel and well, you can see that it’s just whimsical. And there are so many things that I love about this but it was such a struggle when you have the picture in your mind of what you want and it’s not even close to that picture.
Every time I step up to table to paint I learn something…. and that’s the beauty of creating… and I can be grateful for that, even if what I’ve created is not a masterpiece.
I’m still recovering from what I’m gonna call exhaustion and I could tell when creating this, my ideas were coming slow and my patience was short and I was dreaming of my toes in the sand and the ocean sounds in the background.
Sometimes in life we need to just embrace where we are to move forward, just like this piece. To give ourselves grace and rest when things don’t go as planned. We don’t give up on the idea we had, but we give thanks for where we are and move towards what we are dreaming of.
I share in the video about allowing ourselves to rest when life hands us craziness.
