Modeling paste and gesso w/ art journal crash the stash 8-1-19

This journal page was simple but I love how it turned out. I love the papers that I put down for the background and wanted to make sure that they showed up.

I used only a few colors and used modeling paste and gesso for the highlighted stenciled areas.

The butterfly is the star of the show so using colors that compliment it was the key.

Hope you enjoy the video.

Supplies used: Handmade journal, Deco art media modeling paste, gesso, Liquitex matte medium, Luka cryl liquid paint (teal), Deco art media fluid acrylic (quin gold), Golden paynes gray, F&W acrylic ink in Sepia, Archival ink, makeup brush, palette knife, charcoal pencil

Stencils used: script fave words, vintage crosses, scribble marks 1, butterflies

Be inspired, create and know that you are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
