The texture on this piece is just fabulous and makes me happy! The crackle, the expanding mousse, the chalk paste they all play really well together and offer very different textures, which is what I was going for.

The combination of Golden high flow, acrylic inks, and Lukas paint made it all come alive.

I even used the expanding mousse with the Mediterranean stencil and it created a stunning effect.

The inspiration for this was, well.. to be honest, it was stress. Do ever feel like you have all kinds of feelings all at once?

That’s where I was at when I created this and I share in the video how it’s ok to be brave and frightened, strong and weak, loved and unlovable.

I share about giving ourselves grace to feel all the feels and how creating allows us to say what we can’t and that it’s so therapeutic.

Enjoy the video

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
