Making your stencil larger and never giving up Sunday inspiration 8-18-19

I love it when you create a piece and it feels like home. It feels like an old friend. That’s what happened as I created this. It just felt like me.

I had a great quote that my assistant gave me that inspired it and then the vision of what I wanted it to look like ….. helped it all come together.

I knew the stencil I wanted to use but it was a bit small for all the layers I wanted to put down… So I share how I made it bigger in the video. It’s a really great way to be able to use your stencils even if they don’t quite fit your project.

I also used a bunch of different paints that I don’t usually reach for and that happened by a bit of my creative ADD… you’ll see in the video.

The quote: Faith is knowing there is an ocean when you can only see the stream. There are so many meanings to this quote but I share in today’s video how there have been so many times in my life when I couldn’t even see the stream.. that it was just a dry creek bed.

But I knew deep down in my heart there was something bigger and better waiting for me.

I hope you enjoy the video!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
