I used some of my yummy papers and gelli printed tissue papers that I created in the Abstract journey workshop in this piece and it’s one of my favorite ways to create.

I love being able to nestle the papers in between all the layers and have just bits show up.

I also love being able to lay down words and cover them up as I did in this piece. It always symbolizes healing or forgiveness for me.

The quote ” Let your wounds become wisdom” along with an email this week inspired this piece. I share in the video what the black, turquoise and flowers represent and how wisdom comes.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Shawn. Wonderful piece. Turning disappointment, wounds, hurts into wisdom. We all can relate to it, and Much of the time we hold it and hold it to the point you become paralyzed. Talk to a close friend you trust. Do not hold in wounds. Take the problem and make art with it. Do you need to forgive, make art with it. Look at it then ready yourself to confront the problem with forgiveness in your heart. And forgive them anyway.
