I have an enormous amount of papers so I love digging in my boxes for just the right ones.

I started with some papers from the stash and then pulled some yummy gelli prints that I did on tissue paper, parchment paper and deli paper. They are transparent when you put them down and let all the layers show through. Happiness!

And then added some more texture with modeling paste!

My inspiration came from my quote and some lovely emerald/turquoise colors I had pulled. That felt rich and deep like the quote.

I share in the video how I believe that this small quote can mean so much if we choose to live it out.

Be inspired, create and know that you are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Shawn: That was just brilliant. I got so much out of this week’s inspiration demo. To remember to work in triangles, work in threes, think about the darks and lights, balance, simple color palette, and more. But what I really loved was your exposition about the quote. You have a little ministry right here! Thanks so much!

Do you have videos on how you create all those yummy papers you use – the parchment papers, deli papers, gelli prints, etc. Not just using preprinted papers.
