For today”s Sunday inspiration, I played with my pressed paper technique and integrating collage with acrylics. I also created some yummy texture with gesso.

The inspiration for this piece-

“You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to carefully kept. Generally, by the tie you are real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” Margery Williams Bianco (The Velveteen Rabbit)

I’ve read this quote many times but I love how depending on the place that we’re at in our lives something can have a whole new meaning or touch something deep down in our souls.

I love that “You become” is a sentence. It’s action, it’s a journey. You are working to become real. and to that, I say YES!

It is our journey, all the hard stuff, the hurt, the joy the misunderstand, the learning that makes us who we are, that teaches us to be real. That shows us how strong we can be. It takes time!

I think back to who I was when I was 20 ……… and all the lessons I needed, to get here. Every year I learn more and more about myself and being real. And I’m so grateful for those that have traveled with me on the journey, and thought that I wasn’t ugly, because the understood!
