This is my project for Shawn Petite’s 2020 Creative Team! My inspiration for this project is the glorious old master oil painters’ massive bouquet paintings combined with pointillism using watercolor in its spray form.
In this video, I demonstrate how to use sprays, which are basically watercolor in a bottle, to create a gorgeous bouquet using stippling/pointillism. I show how to go from an elegant look to a more whimsical mixed media effect, so that’s why my video is a bit longer. I chose a selection of floral and flourish stencils. Shawn’s stencils play beautifully into this technique. I demonstrate how you can use sprays to achieve a fun (happy accident in my case) effect that lends to creating fun dimensional expression for a floral bouquet. I once again packed a lot into this video so if you want to see my director’s cut that includes how I added final details on my flowers, check out the longer video on my YouTube “RandomArtist222”. In the accompanying process video, I show creative ways to use Shawn Petite’s stencils. Hope your New Year is off to a great start 😀
