“Dream” mixed media MDF board by CT member Lisa Thill

In this project, I was needing to do something quick and simple…My love of dragonflies shows through with the use of her “Let it Fly 2” stencil. I wanted the crackle paste to work with the “Numbers Jumble” stencil, but I may not have had enough product to make it happen.

Shawn’s Stencils: Scribbles, Let it Fly 2, Old type Text, Numbers Jumble, 5 3/4” square MDF board, matte medium, gesso, crackle paste, cheesecloth, versa fine vintage sepia ink, stencil brushes, 6b extra soft charcoal pencil, Derwent Inktense watercolor pencil (bark), Black chalk writer. Paint colors: antique white, Khaki, Sea breeze, brilliant blue, Burnt Umber, Dragonfly glaze.

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 30 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul.
