“Dreams of Beauty” Art Journal Crash the Stash by CT Member Carisa Zglobicki

I love Crash Your Stash Thursday videos. It is so much fun to crash your own stash for art supplies that may not get as much use as some of the others. When I started my project, I dug through my paint drawer and found these gorgeous Pebeo paints that I have hardly used – I bought them years ago for bible journaling. They came in a set of rainbow colors so immediately I knew I wanted to create a bright, colorful rainbow for my focal point on my page. I love rainbows because they are so cheerful and anytime I see one in the sky, immediately my mood is lightened. I also grabbed some of my first ever Shawn Petite stencils to uses as well. I love all things text and the quatrefoil is my favorite pattern. It’s always good to pull things out you love if you are finding it hard to create which I’ve honestly been struggling with these past few months. This hasn’t been an easy year for any of us, anywhere on the planet and I struggle when I’m distraught or disheartened to find a place and space to create but I’m so grateful I did today. No matter where you are in the world we can all dream of beauty and hopefully of a better world than the one today. I’m grateful for the time and space to think in my art journals because it’s a safe place to let out any of the feelings I might be dealing with. I sometimes forget that the best thing I can do for myself and my loved ones to take a moment to crack open a page in a journal and put down my thoughts and some paint. It’s ok to find solace and peace within those pages as our hands shape our supplies into something of beauty. I hope you will take time this week to crash your own stash and make your own dreams of beauty! Thank you so much for watching my video today for a little inspiration to fill your day!

Enjoy the Video!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
