Today I started this piece using black Liquitex acrylic spray. And I have to say I love it! It’s made to use indoors. No order and less harmful!
Then I just started letting the paint fly. I used some new Nova color paints and then wanted to add more texture (of course) so I brought out my Golden heavy body paints for the win!
I also had had a word in my head and on my lips all week…. I just kept telling myself this week. “Focus Shawn, focus…. one thing at a time”
And as I do so many times, well actually always, I looked up the definition of focus and got my message for this piece.
The definition was pretty standard to what I thought it would be until I got to the verb section (action) and it was a message to my heart.
I share more about it in the video. Have fun watching

What an amazing message. I loved the way you compared the process of bringing clarity to an issue in your life or to the composition of a photograph with your use of white and gray to simplify and bring focus to this piece. This video just really spoke to me on so many levels – about the need to calm internal clutter in order to move forward on an issue, as well as how simplifying with white and black is the means to bringing focus to an otherwise chaotic, if colorful, background. Fabulous. Thanks for sharing.
This is awesome
Truthfully at first I wasn’t sure if I would like where you were going with this BUT it all started coming together and wow so cool I love it ! I haven’t tried “painting” with a pallet knife yet but I’m ready now ! Thank you for the inspiration !!
Very cool. Love how you created the background with all those beautiful colors.
