Mixed Media “Autumn Postcards” by New CT Member Shemi Dixon

September is my birthday month and I love it when the leaves turn in the fall. So when I saw Shawn’s stencil called Spring Leaves 1 I had to use it to create a postcard to remind me of all the beauty of a Colorado autumn.

To create this project I first layered with collage papers. Shawn has some beautiful collage packs in her shop make sure you check them out. Next, I did some fun finger painting with an off-white color and added splatters with gold and black acrylic paint. I love textures so I added lots of texture by mixing my modeling paste with black paint. Which I’ve then allowed to dry and then painted over it with white gesso. I used the same stencil again with black acrylic to make sure that the leaves pop. Lastly, I added a word sticker to finish off my postcard. I can’t wait to mail these beautiful postcards to my friends. Happy Creating!

Collage Pak, DecoArt acrylic paint in Black, glorious gold and whitewash, Stabilo Woody pencils, Matte medium, DecoArt modeling paste, postcard bases( Measures 4 by 6), Word stickers I got mine from Hobby Lobby but I love Tim Holtz word stickers
