Oh the yummy goodness in today’s piece! I used so many of my favorite things….. collage papers, spray paint, pastels, stencils…. such goodness!

The inspiration came from the quote on the piece “Beauty from ashes” . As I read it this week I thought about how so many times the ashes of my life have been made beautiful.

Which led me to think about how when I’m in the city or my own downtown area, how artists have taken what was a grungy old building wall with graffiti on it and painted something so beautiful that everyone enjoys.

It’s inspiring to see these huge beautiful murals that reflect the artist or the city.

So that’s where I went with this project. The grungy wall, the pealing papers with a little graffiti, and the beauty.

I share more about the beauty from the ashes in the video.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Hi Shawn, I’m trying to sign up for wanderlust at the $99 rate, but can’t seem to find that offer. Am I too late? (The first I’ve heard of this is in your message today.)

    Thanks for your help!

I loved today’s project(but admittedly, I love all of your work!) I attempted to sign up for the Wanderlust adventure for 2021, but the special rate you quoted is apparently not available. Can you confirm that, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks so much for your help Shawn(and I apologize if this is a repeat. I did ask earlier, but don’t see my comment, or your answer>)
