This piece was such a journey and has sooo many layers. The background was the place where is fleshed out my thoughts on the inspiration for this creation.
I knew that I wanted some see-through layers and decided to do some stenciling and prints with my stencils on rice paper…. well a few hours later I had gone done the rabbit hole. It was like gelli printing… I had papers everywhere. I show you my process in the video, anyway… I believe it was all part of the meaning and process of this piece.
I was inspired by the book “The Gift” by Dr. Edith Eger. It is so good! and had me in tears a few times…. Here is part of a few lines from her book that moved me and brought me to the table to create.
“We all have this capacity to choose. When nothing helpful or nourishing is coming from the outside, that is precisely the moment when we have the possibility to discover who we really are. It’s not what happens to us that matters most, it’s what we do with our experiences……”
There’s so much more I share in the video.

Thank you for this. I’m just beginning my exploration of mixed media. I’m discovering so many interesting things. This is very inspiring. I look forward to seeing more!
Thanks for watching!
So beautiful, I need to play with rice paper, I love the soft transparency, and that gold is stunning! The soft grey and magenta, as always it is wonderful and inspirational to watch you work and the quote is soulful.
couldn’t find the collage pack in the store?
Gorgeous creation, thank you so much for the video showing your thoughts and the process. I love the rice paper effect! What a positive message!
