So many things inspired this…. a piece of art I saw, a quote that I read from my new book by Edith Eger and a drop of ink that changed the direction of this beauty.

And……..I painted with acrylic inks for the first time and I’m hooked!

My quote is from Dr. Eger’s book ” The Gift” , I think I could paint the whole thing.

There are so many nuggets of wisdom and soul penetrating sentences, that it’s hard for me to get through the chapter because I stop and savor the words and picture what I would paint to express them.

The quote reads “Hope – A willingness to cultivate within yourself whatever kindles light, and to shine that light into the darkest places.” —- Amen!

I share more about it in the video. Have fun watching!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Beautiful from beginning to end. I love your work and how you make it not only beautiful but profound with meaning. Thank you so much for all that you share including the words of Edith Eger in the time of such darkness.
