Oh, the texture on this piece!

The subtle (or not so subtle) pattern in the background is yummy! And the soft pastels add just the right details.

The flowers to represent growing in love…. it’s all soooo good!

As Valentine’s Day approached, I began thinking about love and how it can be complex and hard and wonderful all at the same time.

And I also thought about how when I approach anything with love, it always wins.

I didn’t say it was easy, I didn’t say it didn’t call for boundaries, I also didn’t say that there would be times when love isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when we face difficult times or people.

But what I know is that when I took a step back and looked at anything or anyone with the eyes of love (which is not easy), it saved me.

I share all about it in the video.

I also made this print available in the resource library as a 6×6. Get it quick– it will only be there for a week. If you are not a subscriber you can sign up here.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!
