Layers of mixed media texture
The layers of texture on this piece are so amazing. I just kept layering texture paste and crackle paint on top of each other!
Using my stencils I created even more hidden layers of texture and pattern.
Acrylic ink was the perfect pairing to show off all of the layers and to let it fall into all the cracks and crevices.
The inspiration behind my art today was yet again my journal time and time of reflection. I also was moved by one of my favorite quotes from Maya Angelou (I have so many from her).
“Do the best you can until you know better, and then when you know better, do better.”
Period. Full stop. No judgment in the quote. Because how do you judge someone when they didn’t know what they didn’t know? How can you judge yourself, when you did the best you could with what you had?
Then, when we learn and we grow, we know…… and we start from there and do the best we can with what we’ve learned. And so on.
I share more about it in the video and how sometimes not knowing all the things when we start something is actually a blessing!
