“You’re never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream” C.S. Lewis

The layers on this piece just make me happy! This felt like home. It was my comfort zone.

Sometimes we need that comfort of doing what’s familiar….. and some days.. we set out on new paths to find our dreams.

I was reflecting as I was putting dates into my planner.  I was scheduling the next birthday week events and thinking back to when I started. This will be the 9th birthday week! I can’t believe it!

I was 48 when I decided to go for the thing that I’ve always dreamed of. On my path of life, I forgot about the dream in different seasons of my life… but that dream was always within me.

I’m a perfect example of never giving up on something and it’s never too late. I’m still learning and growing my business but I’m grateful almost every day for where I am. (I say mostly, well, because I’m human and running your own business isn’t always a dream).

I just want to remind you today that it’s never too late to learn the thing, to feel the feelings, to try the dessert, to paint the painting, to love who you want to love, to change your mind, to take a risk.

Have fun watching all the layers of this come together… just like the layers of our story.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Thank you, Shawn, for your inspiration. I started to vigorously chase my artistic spirit when I was 72. You are exactly right. It is never too late.

So true that IS never too late. I went back into my art making in my late 60’s….changing my mind from designing and fabricating jewelry. Studio was rearranged for painting and I “always show up” as you said in another video. So far, it’s the most fulfilling decision I’ve made. Thanks again for the inspiration and techniques that help me along my journey.

Libby, I love that you made the shift, and are going after your “current” passion. And yes showing up is half the battle.
Thanks for sharing your encouraging words and showing up here to share the creative journey with me!
