Simple sunflowers and taking a break Sunday inspiration 8-22-21

I created a quick and simple sunflower piece today.

I got lots of depth with the fun collage papers and then used my stencils as my guide. This is always a great way to get started without having to think too much.

I also want to let you know that I’ll be taking a break from Sunday inspiration for a week (hopefully).

With back-to-back things (stencil launch, workshops, birthday week, membership site launch), this mama is tired!

I need to practice what I preach and rest. So I’m gonna take a bit of time off.

I’ll still be in the membership creating fun things but will have a little space to just be, read, play, and paint just for me (that’s the plan anyway).

Hope you have fun watching the video and this week…. be sure to take care of YOU!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Love the simplicity, but also details on this piece. Have a wonderful, much deserved rest. Will miss my Sunday Video, but definitely taking care of yourself is so important.

Thank you so much, Shawn for what you do for all of us artists and “wanna be” artists. Now do something for yourself. I struggle with self care while I take care of a sick husband. Creating art and listening to and playing music are my happy places. The music for this video was absolutely yummy! I want to do so many things in the art world, but only have so much room and time for all of it. You have been chosen as my main “go to” artist as your art embodies my idea of mixed media “canvas” art. I look forward to joining the insider membership club in October. Be well, be safe, be blessed.

Kathy, you are so sweet! Sometimes we can only do what we can do. Self-care is hard when we need to care for others. Also, I don’t think that any of us are wannabe artists. If you create… YOU ARE an artist. Give yourself some grace for the season that you’re in. Music is definitely an inspiration for me that’s why I take so much time choosing just the right thing for what I’m creating. You’ll love the membership because I have a playlist based on the theme of the month! So glad you are here sharing the creative journey with me!
