Today’s art journal was a true expression of all the things happening in me and around me.

The studio is still in the process of being reconstructed after the flood, and this week we got heartbreaking news of the loss of a friend.

Sometimes things happen all at once and it can feel like too much. (Not to mention all the rest of the things happening in the world)

So when I approached my journal, I just asked myself what I needed, I blurted out these words…

” I need to find the beauty in all this turmoil, to find my peace in all the unknown (hard for a control person), Healing for the hurt that myself and the hubby were feeling, and rest. When I lay down because of exhaustion, sleep doesn’t seem to come easily.

So this page is all those things. There is a lot going on on the page but the striking beauty of the flowers stand out and I just let it all go and got lost in the process.

It’s super simple but sometimes that’s best …. I hope you enjoy the project and I hope that you always know YOU are loved!

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

I always enjoy your art creations. This particular one really spoke to me because I lost my younger brother this week to cancer. I am feeling the turmoil of grief. You have inspired me to turn to my art. Thank you for always sharing what’s in your heart with all of us.

Anne, I’m so, so sorry for your loss. There arent words to express loss. I’m so glad that you can turn that grief over to your are a little bit. It’s such a great way to process and let it out instead of holding in all the feelings. Saying a prayer for you now for healing in your own time. Hugs!

      Julia,

I tape tissue paper to copy paper and run it through my printer. It’s one of my favorite things to do!
