A lesson in letting go, never giving up and simple techniques 9-26-21

As simple as this project was…. and I looove stamping with my stencils….but It took me three tries to get what I wanted. Somedays things come easy and some days… it just doesn’t.

But I keep trying and I learn the lesson and get new ideas from the pieces that didn’t work.

I wasn’t going to share the ones that didn’t work… because they’re sooo bad… I laugh every time I look at them… but it’s worth sharing because it’s proof that EVERYONE has a creative roadblock every now and then.

It also was a simple example of the quote….I didn’t plan that, but I thought “how appropriate” for letting go.

I dive in deeper in the video about the lessons I’m learning in this season of my life and it might just be an encouragement to you too.

I hope you enjoy the project… Have fun watching.

Hello there! I’m Shawn Petite

I’ve been teaching and creating for well over 25 years. About 15 years ago I found my art soul mate in mixed media, and it changed my life! I love the story that can be told by combining paint, texture, ink, paper and—really anything that you can imagine.

But what I’m truly passionate about is being your guide, walking with you step by step and helping you become your own hero in your creative journey.

Along my path, I’ve learned that the creating art also creates a healing space. Life can be messy and complicated and painful, but something about a paint brush can help heal your soul. I believe—no, I know—you are worthy of love, and I want to teach you to know that about yourself. Join me on this journey of art and inspiration!

Hello Shawn, thank you for showing us the three pieces… of course the first one is “so” different, perhaps too “compact” but I like the second one either and love the perfect one.
    Love, Evelyne

Thank God! You’re human! I can’t tell you how many prom I’ve deconstructed haven’t finished because of the mess I made. Ugh. Thank you for sharing and for being willing to show vulnerability.

I sincerely love #1 and #3 ! One of my earlier canvas paintings that I wanted to remove out of a gallery due to a ‘bad mistake/regret’ area, actually sold right away and after that initial shock, realized that beauty is truly seen differently to each of us! Thank you for sharing all pieces!

      Raine,
You’re so right! Every time I list a piece that I don’t care for … it always sells right away! Thanks for being here and sharing the journey!! Hugs!

Hello , I think this piece was good why because we all screw up . If not perhaps you should teach me ! I think you did a really big thing ! That was showing EVERYONE THAT WEVARE GOING TO SCREW UP, I do constantly.. I learn then move on, it’s really humbling when a teacher/artist can show its viewers that everyone isn’t perfect. There always be issues when creating. I feel it just makes you a stronger person and a better artist, I learn so much from your teachings and as you the person. I thank you very much for your lessons.
PS ? I Do have a question about the stencils that I ordered there are 2 . I purchased the Leaves /with masks. I can’t find one . What can I do ? I also purchased the Trees w/ masks and one of them so ripped. I have it taped to a card tag not working out. ..My Question is can I just re order the masks for both.. I hope so. I don’t need the stencils. Just the masks. So hopefully you can have a good outcome.
Please respond to me . I would rather you could please just tell me at lynnesachs@comcast.net.
    Appreciate it
