Quiet peaceful reflection in my art journal 12-19-21

I started with a different vision for this journal page…. but sometimes you just have to go with the flow and let it take you where it’s supposed to go.

I wanted a real abstract feeling of the trees with lots of graphic elements and sketchy lines.

But it turned into the song that I was singing as I created.

It was so quiet in my studio… and the Christmas music was playing and “Oh Holy Night” came on. It was so soul-stirring…. that I played it over and over and it became this time of worship in my journal. A prayer of gratitude and a time of peaceful reflection.

Sometimes we just have to let go of what we think we should create and let it happen. And I’m glad I did.

This season I hope however you celebrate that you allow yourself time….. time to have quiet and peaceful reflections of all the things to be grateful for.

  2. Liquitex fluid matte medium and matte gel
  3. Nova color texture paste
  4. Arteza acrylic colors cold gray
  5. Utrecht gesso
  6. Golden acrylic sap green
  7. Winsor & Newton acrylic raw umber and paynes gray
  8. Lukas cryl acrylic raw umber
  9. Fine line applicator – with titanium white acrylic and airbrush medium mix
  10. Golden acrylic burnt sienna
  11. Generals charcoal pencil, black soft pastel
  12. Angle brush and fan brush

    Ohhhhh!! I LOVE all the drama of this journal page. It gave me the feeling that something big was happening all around. Oh Holy Night is one of my favorite Christmas hymns and has a special place in my heart (and memories). Beautiful page. One of the best things that happens with me when I create is the internal struggle to let go and let the piece take me when that needs to happen. The process is so rich and teaches me a lot. It’s a metaphor of sorts for me. Anyway …. Wishing you peace, joy and love this holiday season. I’m grateful I found your videos and appreciate what you share, what you demonstrate, the time you take to make the videos and what I’m learning from watching you. May 2022 be a better year for all of us who have had such a difficult 2021. Merry Christmas, Shawn, to you and yours. Wishing for peace and health on earth. Thank you!
