I hope you’re ready for some layers. I used very little paint on this journal page. It was all about the papers, the old and crumbly ones, and the new created ones!
I just had the most peaceful time cutting and gluing all the parts.
I was also inspired by Edith Eger again this week. Whenever I need a lift or a dose of encouragement her book is one of the ones I go to.
I’ve referred to Edith many, many times. Her book is dog-eared, bookmarked, sticky noted with lots of bright colored tabs sticking out. You know it’s a good book if it looks like that!
Edith writes … (I’m gonna paraphrase a little bit)…” To ask how hope is possible in the face of dire realities is to confuse hope with idealism. Idealism is when you expect that everything in life is going to be fair or good or easy. … That’s a defense mechanism and denial.
There is no freedom in denying reality or trying to cloak it in something sweet…….. Hope isn’t a distraction from darkness. It’s a confrontation with darkness.
Hope is the boldest act of imagination I know.”
I want you to re-read this: “There is no freedom in denying reality“ Just like I shared last week. When we sit with the uncomfortable, it is only then that we can begin to see hope.
There is so much within just the few lines that I’ve shared, and they continue to inspire me every time I read them.
I tried in this journal page to capture the uncomfortable and the hope and the journey to it.
I hope you enjoy the project…. YOU are loved!
